Bhubaneswar: Minister Tusharkanti Behera on Friday told the Odisha Assembly that Biju Yuva Vahini (BYV) is no longer functioning in the State.
Therefore, the government has not made any budgetary allocation for this for 2021-22 fiscal, Behera informed the State Assembly.
The Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, and Sports & Youth Services Tusharkanti Behera also said that no welfare activities are being initiated by the BYV anywhere in the State.
Behera was replying to a query of MLA Bhawani Shankar Bhoi in this connection.
The Biju Yuva Vahini was formed before 2019 general election and the state Cabinet had approved it on March 2018. The BYV was functioning in 114 blocks of the total of 314 in the state. The BYV has 2,64,216 volunteers and it had 7,489 groups in 6,829 panchayats.
The Leader of Opposition, Pradipta Naik alleged that the Biju Yuva Vahini was formed keeping in view the election which has now clearly substantiated.
