A youth sustained fatal injuries after miscreants attacked him with a sword on the AIIMS Bhubaneswar road while returning from the Khandagiri Jatra early Saturday.

The victim, identified as Chintu from Patrapada, was returning home after watching a Jatra performance at the Khandagiri Mela. Reports state that a group of assailants chased him and launched a murderous attack with a sword.

Police suspect past enmity as the reason behind the assault. The exact motive remains unclear, and investigators are working to establish the circumstances leading to the attack.

Local residents discovered Chintu lying in a pool of blood. They rushed him to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for treatment. His condition remains critical, and doctors are monitoring him closely.

Police initiated a detailed investigation into the murderous attack. Officers are scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused. They are also questioning witnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events.
