A transformative move to bridge educational gaps and promote a reading culture is underway in Odisha’s capital.

Under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), every block within the Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency will soon house a modern library, announced MP Aparajita Sarangi.

Backed by a substantial budget of Rs 53 lakh, these libraries are set to feature cutting-edge facilities that cater to both traditional readers and the digitally inclined. The initiative is being hailed as a major step toward improving access to knowledge and nurturing intellectual growth across urban and rural belts.

“This is not just an investment in infrastructure, but in the minds of future generations,” said Sarangi in a statement. She emphasised that the libraries will serve as inclusive community hubs, providing access to books, digital resources, and programs for students and locals alike.

The move has received appreciation from educators and civil society members, calling it a much-needed development for Odisha’s knowledge ecosystem. Each library will be tailored to regional needs, blending Odia language content with global resources to foster a well-rounded learning environment.

As Odisha advances toward inclusive development, initiatives like this underline the power of grassroots investment in long-term societal impact.
