The historic city of Bhubaneswar is gearing up for a grand celebration of its 77th Capital Foundation Day, set to be observed on April 13 and 14.
The Odisha State Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary, Anu Garg, Wednesday chaired a high-level preparatory meeting to ensure the event unfolds seamlessly.
Established on April 13, 1948, Bhubaneswar has evolved into a vibrant capital city with a unique blend of cultural heritage and urban development. This year’s Capital Foundation Day festivities will include an elaborate civil parade, flag hoisting at the Odisha Legislative Assembly, and the Capital Glory Honour awards for 13 distinguished personalities.
The celebrations will merge with Odia New Year on April 14, elevating the spirit of festivity. A range of cultural performances and traditional food exhibits will be part of the grand event at Utkal Mandap. Citizens can expect an immersive experience filled with pride, unity, and artistic showcase.
Additionally, preparations are in place to enhance the aesthetics of the capital, ensuring thorough cleanliness, proper illumination across major landmarks, and special tributes at key statues across the city. Security measures and traffic management will also be streamlined for smooth execution.
