In preparation for the annual Rukuna Ratha Jatra of Lord Lingaraj, the Commissionerate Police has issued a traffic advisory aimed at ensuring public convenience and safety.
The iconic festival, held on Ashokastamee during Chaitra Navratra, begins today and will continue till April 6, with the return car festival scheduled for April 9-10.
In light of the anticipated crowds, restrictions on vehicular movement have been implemented across key roads, including Ratha Road and adjoining lanes. Vehicles will be redirected through alternate routes, and violations of these restrictions will result in penalties ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 under the Odisha Urban Police Act-2003. Emergency services vehicles will remain exempt from these limitations.
The measures underscore the importance of effective crowd management to ensure the seamless celebration of Bhubaneswar’s most cherished cultural event.
