A family dispute escalated into violence in Bhadrak district when a man attacked his elderly parents, leaving both critically injured.
The incident took place in Talabandha village under Chandbali police limits. Manoj Nayak, the accused, assaulted his parents—Madhusudan Nayak and Madhuri Nayak—after a heated argument. He reportedly used a sharp weapon during the attack, causing severe injuries. Locals rushed the couple to Chandbali Hospital. However, doctors later shifted them to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as their condition deteriorated.
Initial reports suggest that ongoing family tensions triggered the confrontation. Enraged by the dispute, Manoj launched the brutal assault, which has left the community in shock. Neighbors described the incident as deeply disturbing and unexpected.
Soon after receiving the alert, Chandbali police reached the scene and launched an investigation. Officers began collecting forensic evidence and recording statements from witnesses and relatives. They aim to uncover the exact cause of the dispute and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Police have identified Manoj Nayak as the prime suspect and plan to take legal action. Meanwhile, medical staff continue to monitor the couple’s condition in intensive care.
This violent episode underscores the dangers of unresolved domestic issues. Authorities have urged families to consider mediation and counseling to avoid such tragic outcomes. They emphasized the importance of early intervention in preventing domestic violence.
As the investigation progresses, police expect to reveal more details about the motive and background of the attack. A formal statement is likely to follow once the inquiry reaches a critical stage.
