Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia has denied reports suggesting that India has decided not to participate in the upcoming Asia Cup events.
Speaking to the media, Saikia clarified that the BCCI has not had any discussions with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) regarding withdrawal from either the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 or the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
Recent speculation hinted at India pulling out of the tournaments amid rising tensions with Pakistan. However, Saikia dismissed these claims, stating that the BCCI’s primary focus remains on the ongoing IPL 2025 and the upcoming England tour. He emphasised that any official decision regarding Asia Cup participation will be formally communicated through the media.
Sources indicate that India’s absence from the tournaments could have financial repercussions for the ACC, which is currently chaired by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi. Without India’s participation, the tournaments face possible cancellation.
As discussions continue, cricket fans await an official statement from the BCCI regarding India’s involvement in the prestigious regional competition.
