Team India has been showered with accolades and rewards following their record-breaking third ICC Men’s Champions Trophy title.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a cash reward of Rs 58 crore to honour the team’s outstanding performance in the tournament held in Pakistan and the UAE earlier this month.
Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian squad remained undefeated throughout the tournament, showcasing their dominance on the global stage. They triumphed over New Zealand in the final, securing their second ICC title in just nine months, following their T20 World Cup victory in the West Indies and the USA last year.
As part of the reward distribution, each player and head coach Gautam Gambhir will receive ₹3 crore, while support staff and selection committee members will be granted Rs 50 lakh each. BCCI President Roger Binny praised the team, stating, “Winning back-to-back ICC titles is special. This reward recognizes Team India’s dedication and excellence on the global stage.”
India’s journey to the title included significant victories against Bangladesh, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand. The team’s consistent performance reaffirmed their position as a global cricket powerhouse.
Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia also lauded the team’s efforts, highlighting their hard work and strategic execution. “This victory justifies India’s top ranking in white-ball cricket. We are confident the team will continue to excel in the years to come,” he said.
This landmark achievement underlines the strength of India’s cricketing ecosystem and solidifies its status as a dominant force in the sport.
