India secured an unprecedented and truly remarkable victory against Australia on Day 5 of the fourth and final Test in Brisbane to seal a 2-1 series win and retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
Chasing a huge 328 to win, India got off to a horror start by losing Rohit Sharma but the batsmen that followed, with the exception of skipper Ajinkya Rahane, came up with brave batting efforts.
Shubman Gill, Cheteshar Pujara and Rishabh Pant, all contributed to the win with gritty half-centuries that took India home in a thrilling finish.
India had won the Border-Gavaskar trophy in 2018-19 and retained the same with this win in 2020-21. In the process, the Australian fortress of Gabba was also breached, for the first time in 32 years.
