The Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department is celebrating Odia Pakhya across the state from 1st April to 14th April. The seventh day of this celebration was observed as “Shishu Katha Divas.”

On this occasion, primary school students in various districts received copies of the Barnabodha and Shishulekha books. Additionally, copies of the Bhagabata were presented to eminent individuals and senior citizens.

Approximately 18,000 copies of Barnabodha and Shishulekha were distributed to students, along with 2,000 copies of the Bhagabata.

A program marking this occasion was held at PM Shri Sadashiv Government High School in Umerkote, Nabarangpur district, where School and Mass Education Minister Shri Nityananda Gond served as the chief guest. He praised the initiative of distributing Barnabodha and Shishulekha books among students, stating that it promotes reading habits and strengthens the foundation of Odia language learning.

“Shishu Katha Divas” was also observed in various private schools and NGOs across the state. This initiative aims to promote the Odia language and literature while helping students become familiar with the state’s rich culture, traditions, and folklore.

It is important to note that the eighth day of Odia Pakhya, 8th April, will feature a blood donation drive organised by the Higher Education and Health & Family Welfare Departments.
