A bank manager has been arrested in Bargarh district on charges of repeatedly harassing a woman employee.
The accused, identified as Prabhanjan Majhi, former manager of Sambalpur District Cooperative Central Bank, Padmapur branch, and currently serving as manager of Sohela Cooperative Bank, allegedly exploited his position to harass a female colleague in January this year.
Reports state that Majhi pressurized the woman, a widow, to satisfy his lust. When she refused, he allegedly used force and attempted to take advantage of her on multiple occasions. After enduring repeated harassment, the woman confided in her son and elder brother, who encouraged her to file a police complaint.
Following her complaint, a case was registered at Padmapur police station. Police took Majhi into custody for interrogation and later produced him in court, where he was remanded to judicial custody.
The incident has sparked outrage among locals, who have demanded strict action against such crimes. Police have assured that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness.
