Odisha Vigilance secured another conviction in a corruption case on June 30, 2026, as Ramesh Chandra Mishra, former Revenue Inspector in the office of the Special Land Acquisition Officer, LSIP, Balangir, was found guilty of misappropriating government funds.
Mishra, who retired from service, was charge-sheeted under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and multiple IPC provisions including 419, 420, 468, 471, 477-A, and 120-B. Vigilance investigators established that he abused his official position and adopted faulty procedures to allow land compensation amounts in favour of an ineligible person.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir, sentenced Mishra to three years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance announced it will move the competent authority to stop Mishra’s pension benefits.
