The historic Baladevjew Temple in Kendrapara is set for a major transformation under the Parikrama Project, with plans aimed at enhancing its heritage appeal and improving the overall experience for devotees. A high-level review meeting heald on Sunday finalised the initial blueprint for the large-scale redevelopment.
The meeting was chaired by Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, and attended by Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda, senior district officials, and the Endowment Commissioner. Together, they reviewed proposed upgrades and discussed the roadmap for the temple’s upcoming makeover.
Temple Precincts to Be Beautified
The Parikrama Project includes comprehensive beautification around the temple, featuring improved pathways, landscaping, lighting, and visitor-friendly amenities. Officials stated that the goal is to position the Baladevjew Temple as a leading heritage destination for pilgrims and tourists.
Government’s Commitment to the Project
Minister Harichandan noted that all essential measures—ranging from beautification to enhanced public facilities—will be implemented to give the temple a refreshed and improved environment.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is in progress, and the redevelopment project is estimated to cost Rs 100 crore. Officials expect the work to begin within the current financial year.
Leaders Review Plans and Share Inputs
MP Baijayant Panda examined the proposed development plans and offered suggestions to further strengthen the project. Local MLA Durga Prasan Nayak confirmed that the Works Department will soon begin the beautification activities around the temple.
The project represents an important move in preserving Odisha’s cultural heritage while providing a modern, accessible, and engaging space for devotees.
