With the NDA securing a decisive victory in Bihar, preparations for forming the next state government have accelerated. The current term of the Bihar Legislative Assembly ends on November 22, and discussions are in full swing among alliance partners to finalise leadership roles and cabinet allocations.

The NDA won 202 out of 243 seats, marking its second time crossing the 200-seat mark after 2010. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, closely followed by Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), which made a strong comeback with 85 seats. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), led by Chirag Paswan, secured 19 seats, while smaller allies like HAM (Secular) and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha also contributed to the coalition’s tally.

Chirag Paswan Shares Timeline for Government Formation

Union Minister and LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan confirmed that discussions are already underway. After meeting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Patna, Paswan described their interaction as “cordial and constructive.”

Speaking about the timeline, he said,
“I will also speak with senior Union Ministers, and the blueprint will be ready by today or tomorrow. We have to form the government before 22nd November. It will be done.”

Paswan added that a clear picture of roles, portfolios, and strategy would emerge once the blueprint is finalised.

NDA Leaders Align on Next Steps

Sources within the NDA revealed that the government formation process will begin in the next two to three days, after all newly elected MLAs return to Patna. Leaders are holding individual meetings with their legislators to gather inputs and consolidate the coalition’s approach.

Before the new term begins, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will meet Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to submit his resignation, clearing the way for a new swearing-in ceremony.

Reactions From Other Alliance Leaders

Rashtriya Lok Morcha leader Upendra Kushwaha echoed a similar timeline, saying matters would become clear in the “next two to four days.” He urged people to “wait a little” as consultations continue among alliance partners.

Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan criticised the Opposition for spreading what he described as “false narratives” about the LJP(RV) and JD(U) before the elections. He said the alliance’s strong performance reflected the trust and support of the people.

A Pivotal Moment in Bihar Politics

The NDA’s sweeping win has reshaped Bihar’s political landscape, with Nitish Kumar widely expected to take oath as Chief Minister for the tenth time. The upcoming swearing-in marks a significant moment as the alliance prepares for its next phase of governance.
