In a landmark moment for Odisha’s film industry, the motion poster of the upcoming Odia film Baghuni (Dance Like a Tiger) was unveiled at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
Hosted at the Bharat Pavilion, an initiative by the Government of India at the Marché du Film, the event marked Odisha’s growing global presence in cinema.
Directed by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Jitendra Mishra, Baghuni is a groundbreaking co-production. It brings together National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), Glocal Films UK Limited, founded by Odisha-born, London-based producer Partha Panda, and Jitendra Mishra’s Cinema4Good Pvt. Ltd. This collaboration signifies NFDC’s return to Odisha after a 23-year gap in significant cinematic endeavors.
The unveiling at Cannes is expected to spark international recognition for Odia storytelling. Speaking about the project, Jitendra Mishra emphasized the film’s thematic depth and cultural significance, expressing hopes of inspiring global audiences.
