Mumbai-born bride Aviva Mehta and Maryland-raised groom Daniel Han celebrated their love with a spectacular Indian-Korean wedding in Montauk, New York, bringing together traditional ceremonies, Indian couture and deeply sentimental family heirlooms.

When Aviva Mehta married Daniel Han at the Montauk Yacht Club on May 15, 2026, the celebrations became more than a wedding. They were a thoughtful blend of two cultures, with Korean traditions meeting Indian bridal fashion and personal family stories woven into almost every outfit and detail.

From a traditional Korean paebaek ceremony to a show-stopping Gaurav Gupta couture gown, Aviva’s wedding wardrobe moved effortlessly between heritage and contemporary fashion.

Aviva Mehta embraces Korean traditions in bridal hanbok

The festivities began with a traditional Korean paebaek ceremony, during which the couple bowed to their elders, served them tea and received blessings and advice from both families.

For the ceremony, Aviva wore an ivory, pearl-white and dusty-blush bridal hanbok paired with heirloom jewellery. Daniel complemented her in a look by The Hanbok, a label whose designs had recently been showcased at New York Fashion Week.

The ceremony offered an intimate introduction to the couple’s cross-cultural celebration, placing Korean customs alongside Aviva’s Indian heritage.

Vintage glamour for the rehearsal dinner

For the rehearsal dinner, Aviva switched to a vintage-inspired look, wearing an archival heavyweight-silk dress sourced from Isle of Monday.

She accessorised the outfit with green emerald earrings from Amaris Jewels and René Caovilla shoes. But the most meaningful part of her look was her jewellery.

According to Vogue India, Aviva wore her dadi’s necklace for the rehearsal dinner, continuing a tradition of incorporating treasured family pieces into her wedding celebrations.

For the vows ceremony, she would later wear her nani’s diamond necklace.

Tarun Tahiliani lehenga carries a family connection

For the outdoor vows ceremony, Aviva chose a dramatic creation by Tarun Tahiliani.

Her lehenga featured a structured, hand-embroidered skirt decorated with crystals, pearls and sequins. The blouse was finished with dramatic draped lace wings, creating a sculptural bridal silhouette.

The designer choice carried an especially personal connection: Aviva’s mother had also worn Tarun Tahiliani for her own wedding.

Completing the bridal ensemble was a tulle veil embroidered with cranes. The crane is a Korean symbol associated with longevity, giving the outfit another subtle connection to Daniel’s heritage.

Around her neck, Aviva wore her nani’s diamond necklace.

Gaurav Gupta gown becomes a tribute to her grandmother

For the reception, Aviva made a dramatic transformation, changing into Look 15 from Gaurav Gupta’s Spring/Summer 2026 couture collection.

The silk-chiffon and tulle gown was covered in thousands of handcrafted mogra tassels, creating a striking three-dimensional floral effect. Aviva wore the sculptural creation exactly as it appeared on the runway.

But the elaborate floral detailing was more than a fashion statement.

Why mogra was especially meaningful

Jasmine was Aviva’s nani’s favourite flower. When she realised her grandmother would not be well enough to travel to the United States for the wedding, Aviva wanted to incorporate something that would keep her grandmother’s presence close.

The thousands of delicate mogra tassels therefore transformed the couture gown into an emotional tribute.

Against the waterfront backdrop of Montauk, the floral gown became one of the most memorable elements of the celebration while carrying a deeply personal story.

Daniel Han’s wedding suit featured a family heirloom too

Daniel’s wardrobe was equally thoughtful.

He wore a bespoke black double-breasted Watson Ellis suit with wide-legged trousers and an open collar, choosing to go without a tie for a contemporary finish.

His shirt cuff featured the embroidered initials “AMH”, standing for Aviva Mehta Han.

He also wore a vintage Korean watch belonging to his late grandfather, adding another meaningful connection to his family’s heritage.

Korean and Indian details came together

The couple extended their cross-cultural theme beyond their clothing.

Their wedding included Korean wedding ducks, traditionally associated with lasting love, while knot tassels represented good health and longevity.

Even the drinks reflected their shared story. Their signature cocktails drew inspiration from soju and imli, combining Korean and Indian flavours.

Together, these details gave the wedding a distinctly personal identity—one that celebrated both families without treating either culture as simply a decorative element.

A wedding where fashion told a family story

Aviva and Daniel’s Montauk celebration ultimately stood out not only for its couture but for the stories behind it.

From her mother’s Tarun Tahiliani wedding outfit to her grandmother’s jewellery and favourite flower, Aviva’s wardrobe connected multiple generations. Daniel’s bespoke suit, embroidered initials and grandfather’s watch similarly brought his family history into the celebration.

The result was a wedding where Indian couture met Korean heritage, but where personal memories remained at the heart of the fashion.
