In a captivating contest at the Perth Hockey Stadium, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team faced a narrow defeat against Australia A in their second match of the Australia tour.
Despite an impressive display of skill and determination, India lost 3-2 in a match filled with intensity and drama.
India took an early lead with Jyoti Singh converting a penalty corner in the 11th minute, energising the team and setting the tone for the game. However, Australia A responded with a quick equaliser from Evie Stansby in the 18th minute. The first half concluded with both teams locked at 1-1.
The second half saw a relentless effort from both sides. Dayle Dolkens tipped the scales in favour of Australia A, scoring in the 47th minute to make it 2-1. A further blow came when Jamie-Lee Surha extended Australia’s lead with another goal in the 53rd minute, leaving India trailing 3-1.
Sunelita Toppo reignited hope for India with a late goal in the 59th minute. However, the clock worked against them, and Australia A held on to secure their victory.
India will look to regroup as they prepare for their third match of the tour on Thursday, aiming to bounce back with a stronger performance.
