Odisha Vigilance on Sunday arrested the Assistant Agriculture Officer and Block Technology Manager in Nabarangpur district for demanding and accepting a bribe.
The accused have been identified as Nilakantha Parida, Asst. Agriculture Officer (AAO), Umerkote and Sri Surendrasingh Bundela, Block Technology Manager both of Agriculture Office, Umerkote, Dist- Nabarangpur.
Parida and Bundela have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a beneficiary of the Jalanidhi scheme (Complainant) to credit the subsidy amount in his favour towards digging of Borewell in his land. The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from their possession.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations linked to Parida, AAO, and two locations of Bundela, BTM from the DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S Case No. 05 Dt. 22.02.2025 U/s 7/12 P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against both the accused persons.
