Apple has announced a steep price hike for its MacBook and iPad lineup in India, citing rising global memory costs and supply chain pressures. The new prices, effective immediately, reflect increases of up to ₹70,000 across select models.
According to Apple’s official India website, the MacBook Air M5 now starts at ₹1,49,900, up from ₹1,19,900, while the 15‑inch MacBook Air has climbed to ₹1,79,900 from ₹1,44,900. The iPad Pro and iPad Air models have also seen notable jumps, making this one of Apple’s most significant pricing revisions in recent years.
Industry analysts suggest the hike aligns with global trends, as component costs and logistics have tightened post‑pandemic. Apple CEO Tim Cook recently remarked that price adjustments were “unavoidable right now,” underscoring the brand’s effort to maintain profitability amid fluctuating production expenses.
The revised pricing comes just weeks after Apple’s WWDC 2026 announcements, where new AI‑powered features were unveiled for macOS and iPadOS. Despite the higher costs, Apple continues to emphasise value through performance upgrades and ecosystem integration.
For Indian consumers, the hike may influence buying decisions ahead of the festive season, with many expected to turn to older models or refurbished options. Retailers anticipate a short‑term slowdown but expect demand to rebound once promotional offers roll out later this year.
With this move, Apple joins other tech giants adjusting prices globally to offset inflationary pressures, signaling a broader trend in premium electronics.
