Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to undertake a two-day visit to Odisha starting March 5, 2026, as part of an official tour. The visit comes amid ongoing preparations by the state government to ensure its smooth execution.

According to details from a high-level preparatory meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Smt. Anu Garg on February 26, 2026, in Bhubaneswar, Shah will arrive in the evening of March 5 via a special Indian Air Force aircraft from New Delhi.

On March 6, the Union Minister will participate in several key programmes:

  • In the morning, he will attend the Foundation Day (Establishment Day) celebrations of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Munduli in Cuttack district.
  • In the afternoon, at Jatni in Khordha district, he will perform the bhumi pujan (groundbreaking ceremony) for the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) Bhubaneswar campus. He will also virtually inaugurate the NFSU Transit Campus in Bhubaneswar.
  • Later that afternoon, at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, Shah will inaugurate an exhibition on the new criminal laws (Nyaya Sanhita) and lay the foundation stones or inaugurate various projects related to cooperation and other departments.

To facilitate the visit, particularly the CISF event at Munduli, instructions have been issued for black-topping and illumination of the road from Godisahi to Munduli, along with cleanliness drives and beautification efforts.

The preparatory meeting discussed the detailed itinerary, security arrangements, traffic and route plans, and site-specific preparations. Chief Secretary Anu Garg directed all departments to coordinate effectively and complete preparations within the stipulated timelines. Additional Chief Secretary (Home, Industries, and Information & Public Relations) Hemant Sharma provided updates on arrangements.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, Cooperation Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, BMC Commissioner, Khordha District Collector, and other departmental secretaries and police officers. The Cuttack District Collector joined virtually.

The state government has emphasized making the visit successful and seamless, reflecting coordination between central and state authorities for these significant events in security, forensic sciences, and legal reforms.
