Panic gripped passengers aboard an “Ama Bus” travelling from Cuttack to Khurda when the vehicle suddenly caught fire near Gadakhordha Chhak on National Highway 16.
The incident occurred close to Panchapaika, where eyewitnesses reported flames erupting from the moving bus, suspected to be caused by a short circuit.
Thanks to the alertness of the driver and locals, all passengers were safely evacuated before the fire intensified. No injuries have been reported, and the bus was completely evacuated within minutes of the fire breaking out.
Fire services reached the spot promptly and managed to douse the flames, preventing further damage or traffic disruption. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and are reviewing safety protocols for public transport vehicles.
