National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will be conferred with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2026 on Saturday, coinciding with the 106th death anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will present the award at a ceremony organised by the Lokmanya Tilak Smarak Trust at Maharashtra Mandal Ground, Gultekdi.

The award acknowledges Doval’s distinguished service in safeguarding India’s national interests, including his pivotal role in counter-terrorism, covert operations, border security, and strategic leadership. His career highlights include Operation Black Thunder, the Doklam negotiations, and the Balakot air strike.

Dr Rohit Tilak, President of the Lokmanya Tilak Smarak Trust, announced the honour at a press conference earlier this week. The award comprises a memento, citation, and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, presented annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the nation.

The ceremony will witness the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, along with several dignitaries. Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure smooth conduct of the event.

An IPS officer of the 1968 Kerala cadre, Doval served in India’s intelligence establishment for over three decades before heading the Intelligence Bureau. Currently 81, he remains India’s longest-serving NSA and is widely regarded as one of the country’s foremost strategic thinkers.

The Lokmanya Tilak National Award commemorates the legacy of freedom fighter Bal Gangadhar Tilak, honouring individuals whose work strengthens the nation.
