Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia AVSM VSM has officially assumed the appointment of Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance at the Indian Air Force Headquarters.
Following the formal takeover on September 1, the Air Marshal paid tribute to fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
Commissioned into the Aeronautical Engineering branch of the IAF in September 1988, Air Marshal Ghuratia brings over three decades of distinguished service. He is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington; Air Force Test Pilot School, Bengaluru; and Air Force Technical College, Bengaluru. His academic credentials include degrees from GEC Jabalpur, BITS Pilani, Madras University, and a doctorate from Bhopal University.
A Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (London), Aeronautical Society of India, and Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, he also serves as Lead Auditor for ISO 45000 (Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems) and is an Associate Member of the Society of Flight Test Engineers, USA.
Throughout his career, Air Marshal Ghuratia has held several key command and staff positions, including assignments with the United Nations Mission in Congo. Prior to this appointment, he served as Senior Maintenance Staff Officer at HQ Maintenance Command.
In recognition of his service, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2016 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2025 by the President of India. He is married to Mrs. Archana and is the proud father of two daughters.
