Prime Minister Narendra Modi broke his silence Tuesday over alleged abusive remarks made against his late mother during an INDIA bloc rally in Darbhanga, Bihar.
In a strongly worded virtual address, he condemned the comments and accused the RJD and Congress of harboring an anti-women and anti-backward class mindset.
Speaking to over 20 lakh women gathered across Bihar for the launch of the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited, PM Modi said, “These abuses are not just disrespectful to my mother, but to all mothers, sisters and daughters of the nation.” He emphasized the cultural reverence for motherhood in Bihar and pledged to accelerate development projects centered around women.
The Prime Minister also transferred ₹105 crore to the institution’s bank account to support rural women entrepreneurs. He highlighted his mother’s sacrifices and said her penance laid the foundation for his public life. “My mother had nothing to do with politics… yet she was abused from an RJD-Congress stage,” he said.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Rizvi, a local Congress supporter, has been arrested and placed in judicial custody. PM Modi urged the people of Bihar to hold the opposition accountable and reject what he described as a “vengeful and elitist” political culture.
