In a scathing attack on the Union Government, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of waging a “war against their own countrymen” to protect Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
Addressing a high-profile joint press conference in New Delhi alongside student leader Neha Bora and actor-activist Prakash Raj, Dipke sharply criticized the administrative crackdown on peaceful demonstrators, student groups, and opposition leaders who have been demanding the poll body chief’s immediate resignation.
’Turned Delhi Into an India-Pakistan Border’
The press conference followed a day after key CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were remanded to judicial custody and sent to Tihar Jail over alleged security breaches during recent demonstrations at Jantar Mantar.
Expressing outrage over the heavy security presence, road blockades, and transit disruptions across the national capital, Dipke alleged that the administration had effectively fortified Delhi to stifle public dissent:
”You have brought Delhi to a standstill, shut down the Railways, shut down the Metro, and turned Delhi into a border—like the India-Pakistan border. You have called in all the forces to Delhi. Student organisations, the Opposition, and former Chief Ministers have been dragged through the streets. All this for one Gyanesh Kumar? Why is Gyanesh Kumar so important to Narendra Modi?”
Questioning Institutional Protection
Dipke questioned why the central leadership was going to extreme lengths—including the preventive detention and judicial custody of youth activists—to protect a single official.
He further noted that peaceful agitation, such as waving the national flag, was being criminalized by state authorities.
The CJP leadership reiterated that despite police actions, detentions, and legal hurdles, their agitation demanding transparency in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar will continue to expand across the country.
