Bhubaneswar’s Capital Police busted an illegal gambling den in Bapujinagar’s Kedarpalli Basti, arresting four men and seizing Rs 24,000 in cash.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided an open-air gambling spot on Monday night. When surrounded, the suspects tried to flee, then resisted officers by starting a scuffle, shouting abuse, and making threats.
Police detained all four suspects at the scene, recovering Rs 24,000 in cash, two smartphones, playing cards, and a mat. Investigators noted that two of the main accused, Prafulla Nayak and Dilu Nayak, have multiple past criminal cases at the Capital police station.
A formal case (No. 774/2026) has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS and the Odisha Prevention of Gambling (OPG) Act. All four accused were arrested and forwarded to court on Tuesday, while further investigation remains underway.
