The flood situation in Odisha remains grim as 26 districts across the state have been partially or severely affected by recent heavy rains and rising water levels.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari shared the grim assessment during a press briefing, detailing the extensive reach of the natural calamity.
According to the Minister, the deluge has wreaked havoc across 205 blocks, 1,360 panchayats, and a staggering 7,834 villages. In addition to rural areas, urban centres have also felt the impact, with 38 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and 219 wards reporting inundation and infrastructure disruption.
Despite the widespread damage, administration officials are working around the clock to execute rescue and relief operations in the hardest-hit pockets. Offering a ray of hope to the distressed populace, Minister Pujari stated that the water levels are beginning to stabilise and the overall flood situation is expected to improve significantly within the next 24 hours.
Relief and rehabilitation teams remain on high alert as authorities continue to monitor river embankments and provide essential supplies to stranded residents.
