Former Indian Army officer and actor Disha Patani’s sister Khushboo Patani has urged women to focus on self-defence and personal safety following the alleged assault of two Class 10 students in Bihar’s Jamui district.
In a video shared on social media, Khushboo demonstrated an air pistol while discussing the importance of women being prepared to protect themselves in extreme circumstances. She also encouraged women interested in learning shooting to seek professional training at recognised shooting facilities.
Her comments came amid public outrage over the September 19 incident in Jamui, in which two school students were allegedly intercepted and assaulted while returning from a local scenic spot.
What Happened in Jamui?
According to reports, the female student was allegedly sexually assaulted, while her male companion was physically attacked. A video of the incident later surfaced online, triggering widespread outrage.
Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
A Special Investigation Team was also formed to investigate the case and identify those allegedly involved.
Seven Arrested So Far
Police had initially arrested five accused in connection with the case. Two more accused, identified as Saurabh Ram and Chhotu Ram, were subsequently arrested, taking the total number of arrests to seven.
The investigation remains underway, with authorities continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
Khushboo Previously Spoke on Law and Order
Khushboo had earlier spoken publicly about the Jamui incident on September 22, calling for strict legal action against those allegedly involved.
In her latest social-media video, she again focused on women’s safety and encouraged women to build confidence through self-defence training.
Her comments have emerged amid a broader public discussion over the safety of women and minors in public spaces.
Kriti Sanon Also Raises Women’s Safety Concerns
Actor Kriti Sanon has also spoken about the Jamui incident and the wider debate around misogyny and women’s safety.
She argued that the conversation should not simply be framed as a conflict between men and women. On Daughter’s Day, she separately highlighted the safety concerns and constant vigilance faced by many women in everyday public life.
The Jamui case continues to be investigated by Bihar Police.
