District administrations in Jajpur and Bhadrak have ordered the immediate temporary suspension of classes in a combined total of 432 schools following severe flood scenarios, persistent waterlogging, and ongoing restoration efforts across affected regions.
In Jajpur, the District Education Officer issued directives suspending classes across 91 educational institutions—covering government, government-aided, and private facilities—on September 28, 2026. While unaffected schools in the district continue to function as usual, the District Collector and Magistrate has mandated that all closed school premises remain accessible to support localised rescue and rehabilitation operations.
Meanwhile, the Bhadrak district administration has stepped up precautionary measures by shutting down 341 schools spanning six critical blocks: Dhamnagar, Bhadrak, Bhandaripokhari, Tihidi, Basudevpur, and Chandbali.
Local authorities have strongly advised students, parents, and staff to prioritise safety and strictly monitor official channels for further instructions. Decisions regarding the reopening of these institutions will depend entirely on how swiftly weather and waterlogging conditions improve in the coming days.
