Security agencies in Gujarat were placed on high alert after an alleged bomb‑threat email named the Somnath Temple, BJP offices, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel among potential targets.
The email reportedly claimed explosives had already been planted at multiple locations, including the BJP’s central office and its Khanpur office in Ahmedabad. It also contained provocative slogans and references to Pakistan and Khalistan, beginning and ending with religious slogans.
Following the alert, teams from Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services, city police, and the bomb detection and disposal squad were deployed at the BJP office in Khanpur. Security checks were also initiated at other sensitive sites mentioned in the email.
Officials are examining the message to determine its authenticity and trace its origin. No explosive devices have been confirmed at the named locations so far.
This latest threat comes amid a spate of similar emails targeting the Gujarat Assembly, courts, and schools earlier this month. Police recently arrested two men in Bihar and Jharkhand in connection with an alleged interstate network involved in sending such emails, reportedly using a large database of hacked credentials.
