Police have seized 3 quintals 32 kg of ganja from an abandoned truck at the entrance of Kuradpasi village under Kundheigola police station in Reamal block, Debagada district. No one has been arrested so far.
During late-night patrolling on Monday, Kundheigola police spotted a truck, registration number WB-25-L-7676, parked at the village entry and facing the Sambalpur direction. No driver or helper was present. Officers approached the vehicle after suspecting something amiss and detected a strong smell of ganja.
Police kept watch on the truck through the night. The vehicle was opened in the presence of Tehsildar Bijayalaxmi Nayak, who was present as magistrate. A total of 332 kg of ganja was recovered and seized.
Kundheigola police have registered a case. The registration number indicates a West Bengal vehicle. Station officer John Kujur and other personnel have begun an investigation to trace the truck’s origin, destination, and the persons involved in the consignment.
