Odisha’s flagship women-centric welfare initiative, the Subhadra Yojana, is celebrating its successful second anniversary.
To mark this milestone and honour women’s empowerment, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has urged households across the state to light a “Subhadra Lamp” on September 17. With over one crore beneficiaries now enrolled under the scheme, every eligible household is encouraged to light at least one earthen lamp as a symbol of financial independence and progress.
To make the occasion festive, events and competitions are being organised at roughly 338 locations across the state. District welfare offices, project centres, and local Anganwadi centres have rolled out vibrant rangoli and traditional jhoti displays to engage communities.
In a major relief for left-out applicants, the Deputy Chief Minister announced during a press meet at Lok Seva Bhavan that the Subhadra Portal will officially reopen in April at the start of the next financial year. Women who turned 21 or missed previous application windows will soon be able to apply and claim the scheme’s direct benefit transfers.
