Odisha is set to experience a much-needed dip in temperatures as rainfall is predicted across several districts starting April 1, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed.
A decrease of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is expected, bringing relief to regions that have been reeling under heatwave conditions.
Southern districts like Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Gajapati, and Rayagada are likely to receive light showers between April 2 and April 4. IMD forecasts that these regions will see sporadic rainfall, which is expected to provide respite from the scorching heat.
Heatwave conditions persisted in Odisha on Sunday as eight locations recorded maximum temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. Boudh town in western Odisha was the hottest place, with temperatures peaking at 41.8 degrees Celsius. Other hotspots included Jharsuguda and Sambalpur, which recorded temperatures of 41.6 degrees Celsius and 41.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.
As Odisha braces for cooler weather, residents in the southern districts are advised to prepare for rainy conditions by carrying appropriate rain gear while enjoying the much-needed respite from the oppressive heatwave.
