In a rare incident, a watchman in Udala NAC carried a dead snake to the hospital after being bitten twice while on duty at a government office.
The victim, Mochiram Tudu of Bahalda, was attacked around 8 pm at the office of the Assistant Executive Engineer, Lift Irrigation. The snake, hiding beneath a chair, struck his leg twice.
Instead of fleeing, Tudu caught and killed the reptile, placed it in a polythene bag, and cycled to the Udala Sub‑Divisional Hospital. He explained that he wanted doctors to identify the species to ensure proper treatment.
“I was sitting on a chair when the snake bit me twice. I caught and killed it, put it in a bag, and took it to the hospital,” Tudu said.
Doctors admitted him for observation, confirming that he responded well to treatment and was in stable condition.
