Security forces achieved a major breakthrough in Kandhamala district after recovering a concealed Maoist arms and explosives dump during a joint operation on Friday.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs, a multi-force operation was launched in Maoist-affected areas involving personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG), Border Security Force (BSF), and District Voluntary Force (DVF).
According to Kandhamala SP Ramendra Prasad, DVF personnel detected the hidden cache near Matrabadi village under Daringbadi police station limits on August 28. The recovery was made after security teams conducted a systematic search with necessary precautions.
The Bomb Disposal Squad was deployed to secure the site. The seized items included two-bore rifles, a single-shot rifle, an SBL grenade, 19 electric detonators, two tiffin-box IEDs, a bundle of Cordex, and two gelatin sticks. Ammunition recovered comprised 13 rounds of .303 ammunition and 10 rounds of single-shot ammunition, along with several camp-use articles.
The operation involved nine teams from SOG, BSF, and DVF. The SP confirmed that similar operations will continue in vulnerable Maoist-affected areas to prevent insurgent activities and safeguard civilians.
