A shocking incident unfolded at Ashram School in Sundaragada district’s Bisra block, where 13-year-old Abhishek Minj, an eighth-grade student, was found dead by suicide inside the school hostel.
Police confirmed that the boy, hailing from Kemang village under Nuagaon block, had been residing at the tribal welfare-run institution.
According to reports, Abhishek had developed a close bond with a fellow student, which drew the attention of teachers. The matter was escalated to both families, resulting in the girl’s transfer certificate being issued. Though Abhishek was later reinstated at the school upon his father’s request, authorities noted his mental health had deteriorated since the incident.
On Monday, Abhishek was discovered hanging in his hostel room. Following intimation by the headmaster, police led by SI Prasanna Kumar Jena reached the site and initiated an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem in the presence of the local magistrate, before being handed over to the family.
