Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Saturday called upon the graduating students of Silicon University to convert their ideas and knowledge into enterprises that address real societal challenges.
Addressing the third convocation ceremony of Silicon University in Bhubaneswar, the Governor encouraged the young graduates to harness emerging technologies for clean energy and environmental solutions through livelihoods, research and entrepreneurship.
He highlighted the vast opportunities available in energy conservation, smart grids, green hydrogen, electric mobility, energy efficiency, and sustainable production. Amid climate change, environmental degradation, and rising energy demand, the importance of renewable energy has grown significantly, the Governor noted. He also pointed to the close links between energy security, economic stability, and global peace, especially in the context of instability in West Asia.
India is steadily advancing towards cleaner energy sources, he said, adding that solar, wind, hydro, bio-energy, geothermal, and ocean energy will play a decisive role in shaping the 21st century.
Dr. Kambhampati urged students to prepare for rapid technological transformation. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, semiconductors, cybersecurity, robotics, advanced electronics, data science, and digital healthcare have opened new frontiers, he observed. Continuous learning, innovation, and the ability to work across disciplines will define the leaders of tomorrow.
“Do not merely adapt to change—embrace it with curiosity, shape it with innovation and apply it with wisdom,” the Governor told the graduates. He stressed the use of technology for the progress of society and the nation.
Describing the convocation as a transition from achievement to responsibility, he reminded the students that a degree is not merely a certificate but a reminder to use knowledge with wisdom in the service of society. Technology alone cannot ensure human progress; it must be accompanied by integrity, humility, and a sense of responsibility.
Congratulating the graduates, their families, faculty, and staff, the Governor said Silicon University has carved a distinctive identity for academic excellence, innovation, and technological advancement. Its recognition as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) for 2026-28 and its place in the NIRF Engineering Rankings reflect a growing research culture, he added.
He expressed hope that the university would further expand its academic and research horizons and called on the graduates to contribute to India’s development through their ideas, skills, enterprise and character.
Doctorates and gold medals were awarded during the ceremony, and the degree recipients took an oath. Capgemini Technologies Board Chairman Dr. Sridhar Balachandra Shukla attended as the chief guest and delivered an address. Silicon University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jaydeep Talukdar gave the welcome address.
