Odisha Vigilance secured the conviction of Pravakar Behera, Former Principal of the Government Driving Training School, Bhubaneswar, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
Behera, who retired from service, was charge‑sheeted under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.
On Saturday, the Hon’ble Special Judge, Special Court, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar sentenced him to three years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,00,000.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance announced that it will move the competent authority to stop Behera’s pension benefits in accordance with service rules.
Officials said the judgment reinforces the state’s commitment to transparency and accountability in public service.
