Swedish pole vault sensation Mondo Duplantis delivered another record‑breaking performance at the European Athletics Championships, clearing 6.15 metres to set a new championship record and secure his fourth consecutive European title.
The 27‑year‑old world record holder first equalled the previous mark of 6.10m before soaring past it with ease. His victory continued a remarkable streak, adding to his dominance earlier this year when he became the first man to win four successive World Indoor titles, setting a championship record of 6.25m.
In Birmingham, only Emmanouil Karalis of Greece matched the 6.00m mark, earning silver—his second successive European medal. France’s Thierry Baptiste claimed bronze with 5.85m.
Though expectations were high that Duplantis might attempt to surpass his own world record of 6.31m, set in March on home soil, he chose not to make the attempt after sealing the title and record.
