The mystery surrounding the abduction of Balangir businessman Narendra Sahu, alias Gunda, has taken a dramatic turn after police revealed that the incident was allegedly linked to a dispute over a rare “Hanuman coin” (Hanuman Paisa).
Sahu was reportedly abducted late Friday night and rescued safely from Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, following a joint operation by Balangir Police and Commissionerate Police.
One suspect from Kantamal in Boudh district has been detained. Both Sahu and the suspect were brought to the Balangir Reserve Police Barracks for face-to-face interrogation in the presence of SP Abilash G and SDPO Saroj Kumar Upadhyay.
Police sources said the questioning has revealed that the abduction stemmed from a dispute involving the so-called “Hanuman coin,” a locally believed rare object. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
The safe rescue of Sahu has brought relief to his family and the business community in Balangir. Police are continuing efforts to identify others involved and uncover the full circumstances behind the abduction.
