A tragic incident unfolded at the New Odisha Higher Secondary School girls’ hostel in Babudihi, Kurumkel Panchayat, where a minor student was found hanging inside her room.
The girl, a Class XI student from Rajgangpur, stayed back in her room on Thursday afternoon while other hostel residents went to the dining hall for lunch. When they returned, they discovered her body hanging with a scarf tied to the bed frame. Panic spread quickly through the hostel, and authorities immediately informed the police.
Officers from Talasara police station, along with forensic experts, reached the spot and recovered the body. The remains have been sent for autopsy, scheduled for Friday.
Investigators are now working to determine whether the death was a case of suicide or if other circumstances were involved. Police have confirmed that a detailed probe is underway to establish the exact cause.
