A shocking incident has emerged from Chitamunda village under Hemgir police limits, where the body of a 75‑year‑old man was recovered from a pond late Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Udhav Pradhan, a resident of Chitamunda. According to reports, Pradhan left home on Thursday morning but did not return. After hours of searching, family members spotted his slippers near a pond and alerted the fire services.
Rescue personnel reached the site and, with the help of divers, retrieved a body bound with stones. Police were immediately informed and arrived at the scene to take custody of the remains.
Hemgir police registered an unnatural death case (30/26) and have begun a detailed investigation. A scientific team and sniffer dogs have been deployed to gather evidence and trace possible leads.
The incident has left the local community in shock, with questions surrounding whether Pradhan’s death was accidental or involved foul play. Authorities have assured that the investigation will continue until the cause is established.
