Indian gymnast Ariha Pangambam etched her name in history by becoming the first Indian to win a gold medal at the Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships.
Competing in the senior women’s individual event, Ariha clinched the title with a score of 19.100, marking a watershed moment for Indian gymnastics.
Her performance breakdown included 8.650 in artistry, 7.600 in execution, and 2.850 in difficulty, securing India’s maiden gold in the discipline. “A great achievement for us. Did very well. Kudos to her and her coach,” said Gymnastics Federation of India president Sudhir Mital, praising her historic feat.
The 2026 Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships were held in the Philippines from August 4 to 7, with Ariha’s triumph standing out as a milestone for the nation’s sporting journey.
