The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has claimed that the government has once again assured the organisation that no legal action will be taken against protesters in Bihar, Assam and Rajasthan.

Sharing a late-night update, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the party had received confirmation that FIRs registered against protesters would be withdrawn, while similar assurances were expected from other states.

‘No Action Against Protesters in Rajasthan’

In a post on social media, Das said the organisation had received a fresh assurance regarding Rajasthan.

“After Bihar and Assam notifications, we have just been guaranteed that no authority will proceed against protesters in Rajasthan,” he said.

Earlier, the governments of Bihar and Assam had announced the withdrawal of cases filed against protesters, following which CJP leaders said they were handed copies of the official notifications.

Midnight Meeting with Delhi Police Representatives

Das said he, along with CJP legal coordinator Ratna Singh, met representatives of the Delhi Police, whom he described as interlocutors involved in discussions between the organisation and the government.

According to Das, the meeting focused on concerns that the assurances given to protesters should be implemented uniformly.

He claimed the representatives reiterated that notifications from the Union government and BJP/NDA-ruled states regarding the withdrawal of cases were expected soon.

Legal Support for Protesters

The CJP also appealed to protesters who are allegedly facing legal action or police harassment to remain patient, assuring them of legal assistance.

Das announced that the organisation is launching a dedicated legal support website, where lawyers from across India can register to provide free legal aid to protesters.

The initiative has reportedly received support from Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal, who announced ₹1 crore towards legal assistance and appealed to lawyers nationwide to join the initiative.

According to the CJP, the platform will connect affected protesters with volunteer advocates based on their location and legal requirements.

Warning of Fresh Protest

The organisation reiterated that it could resume its agitation if the assurances are not honoured.

Earlier, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka had warned that the party would be forced to restart protests if FIRs against protesters were not withdrawn and if fresh cases continued to be registered.

The CJP has demanded:

  • Immediate withdrawal of all FIRs against protesters.
  • Release of detained students and demonstrators.
  • No future legal action against participants in the movement.
  • Implementation of assurances given during negotiations.
