A young man identified as Tukuna Sahu of Krushnapur village under Banki area is feared to have jumped into the Mahanadi River from Mundali Bridge today.
His motorcycle and mobile phone were found abandoned on the bridge, prompting immediate alarm among locals.
Upon receiving information, Baranga police and fire service teams rushed to the spot and launched a search operation in the river and surrounding areas. Athagarh police also joined the inquiry to determine the circumstances behind the alleged jump.
Authorities said the exact reason remains unclear, and efforts are underway to trace the missing youth. The incident has once again raised concerns about safety and mental health awareness near riverfronts and bridges.
