The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has released the detailed schedule of rituals for the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra, to be held in Puri on Thursday.
According to the schedule, the day’s rituals will begin with Mangal Alati at 6:00 AM, followed by Mailam and Tadap Lagi (6:10 AM – 6:30 AM), Rosha Homa (6:30 AM), and Abakasha (7:00 AM). Surya Puja (7:10 AM) and Dwarapala Puja with Besha Sesha (7:30 AM) will follow.
Gopal Ballav and Sakala Dhupa (Khechudi Bhoga) will be offered between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, after which Ratha Pratishtha will be conducted at 9:00 AM.
The ceremonial Pahandi Bije, when the sibling deities are carried from the sanctum sanctorum to their respective chariots, will begin at 9:30 AM and continue till 12:30 PM. Madanmohan Bije will follow from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, and Chitalagi and Besha Sesha rituals will take place between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM.
The sacred Chhera Pahanra ritual, where the Gajapati Maharaja ceremonially sweeps the chariots with a golden broom, is scheduled from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Chara Phita and Ghoda Sarathi Lagi will follow between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, after which the chariot pulling from Shree Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple will commence at 4:00 PM.
Lakhs of devotees are expected to converge on the pilgrim town to witness the world‑famous festival. The state government, SJTA, and district administration have made extensive arrangements for security, traffic regulation, crowd management, and civic facilities to ensure smooth conduct of the yatra.
