Reaffirming its commitment towards the vision of a TB-Free India by 2025, the Government of Odisha has achieved significant progress under the 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, a nationwide campaign launched by the Government of India under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).

The campaign, inaugurated across the country by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare on 24 March 2026, was implemented across all 30 districts of Odisha under the leadership of the State TB Cell, Directorate of Public Health, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha, with active support from district administrations, healthcare institutions, development partners, community organisations, educational institutions, corporate partners, volunteers, and citizens.

During the campaign period from 24 March to 5 July 2026, Odisha witnessed an unprecedented scale of community mobilisation and public health action aimed at early detection of Tuberculosis, preventive treatment, nutritional support, and widespread public awareness.

Major Achievements

The State has recorded several noteworthy accomplishments during the campaign:

  • 4,470 TB Screening Shivirs (Health Camps) organised across urban, rural and hard-to-reach areas.
  • More than 3.44 lakh people participated in these camps, demonstrating strong public response.
  • Over 5.18 lakh individuals were screened for Tuberculosis through systematic community-based screening initiatives.
  • 9,013 household contacts of TB patients were initiated on TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) to reduce future disease transmission.
  • 28,348 Poshan Kits were distributed to TB patients through the Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative, reinforcing nutritional support as an integral component of TB care.
  • Extensive Jan Bhagidari (People’s Participation) was witnessed with active involvement of elected representatives, government officials, civil society organisations, corporate sector, community leaders, social activists, volunteers, educational institutions and development partners.

A Collective Movement Against Tuberculosis

The campaign successfully transformed TB elimination into a people’s movement by strengthening awareness, promoting early diagnosis, encouraging treatment adherence, and reducing stigma associated with the disease.

Health workers, District TB Centres, medical officers, frontline workers, Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Community Health Officers (CHOs), community volunteers, and partner organisations worked tirelessly to ensure that TB screening and awareness activities reached the vulnerable and high-risk populations across the State.

Special screening camps, awareness drives, community outreach programmes, school and college engagement activities, and focused interventions in vulnerable communities substantially enhanced access to quality TB services during the campaign.

Towards a TB-Free Odisha

The achievements of the 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0 reflect Odisha’s strong commitment to accelerating TB elimination through innovation, community participation, and inter-sectoral convergence.

The campaign has further strengthened the implementation of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme in Odisha by improving early case detection, expanding preventive treatment, enhancing nutritional support, and fostering greater public participation.

The Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha, expresses its sincere appreciation to all healthcare workers, district administrations, development partners, Ni-kshay Mitras, educational institutions, civil society organisations, media, and citizens whose collective efforts have contributed to the success of this campaign.

The State remains committed to sustaining this momentum and intensifying efforts towards achieving the national goal of eliminating Tuberculosis, ensuring that every citizen has access to timely diagnosis, quality treatment, preventive care, and comprehensive support.

“Together, through partnership, innovation, and community participation, Odisha is moving steadily towards a TB-Free Future.”
