Police in Dabugaon, Nabarangpur district, arrested a minor boy for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in Chacharaguda Panchayat.
The incident occurred Wednesday evening when the child was playing near her home.
According to reports, the accused lured the girl to a secluded spot and committed the crime. Shocked family members lodged a complaint at Dabugaon Police Station. Acting on the FIR, police registered Case No. 160/26 and detained the minor for questioning.
Investigators confirmed that the victim’s condition is critical. Doctors at Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital are providing treatment. Police stated that further medical and forensic examinations will support the ongoing investigation.
The arrest has sparked outrage in the community. Locals expressed concern over the rising number of sexual assaults on minors and demanded stricter punishment for offenders. Many argued that unless the government enforces harsher penalties, crimes against children will continue unchecked.
