Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb has written another letter to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging immediate intervention regarding ISKCON’s organisation of Rath Yatra and Snana Jatra abroad.
In his letter, the Puri king expressed deep concern that such events break Jagannath temple traditions. He emphasised that holding these rituals outside Puri violates the sanctity of Lord Jagannath and hurts the religious sentiments of devotees worldwide.
The Maharaja requested an appointment with the President to discuss the matter in detail. He also sought the Prime Minister’s direct intervention to stop these practices. According to him, ISKCON’s foreign celebrations of Snana Jatra and Rath Yatra disregard centuries-old customs and create confusion among devotees.
He stressed that the purity of Mahaprabhu Jagannath must be preserved at all costs. The Maharaja appealed for urgent action to halt these unauthorised rituals and safeguard the spiritual heritage of Odisha.
