Indian IT services company HCLTech has signed a $1.14 billion strategic agreement with a Europe-based Fortune Global 50 company to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven operating model.

The deal is among the largest technology contracts announced by an Indian IT company in 2026 and is expected to strengthen HCLTech’s position in the rapidly growing AI services market.

Five-Year Agreement With Extension Option

According to a regulatory filing with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the agreement will run from July 2026 to December 2031.

The contract includes an option to extend the partnership for an additional five years.

HCLTech said the estimated value of the initial term is $1.14 billion, adding that the project represents entirely new business for the company.

Focus on AI-Driven Digital Transformation

The company said the partnership aims to establish an AI-driven operating model that will transform and manage the client’s:

  • Global Digital Workplace
  • Enterprise Networks
  • Digital operations
  • Technology infrastructure

The initiative is expected to enhance operational efficiency and accelerate enterprise-wide digital transformation using artificial intelligence.

Client Identity Not Disclosed

HCLTech has not revealed the name of its client.

However, the company confirmed that the customer is headquartered in Europe and ranks among the Fortune Global 50, which includes the world’s largest corporations by annual revenue.

CEO Outlines AI Vision

HCLTech Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director C. Vijayakumar recently said the company’s ambition is to become “the best AI solutions company in the world.”

The latest multi-billion-dollar agreement aligns with that strategy as enterprises continue investing heavily in AI-powered business transformation.

About HCLTech

HCLTech is one of India’s leading global technology companies.

According to the company, it employs more than 227,000 professionals across 60 countries and provides services in:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Cloud Computing
  • Digital Transformation
  • Engineering Services
  • Software Solutions
  • Enterprise Technology Services

What Is the Fortune Global 50?

The Fortune Global 50 represents the highest-ranked companies within the annual Fortune Global 500 list of the world’s largest corporations by revenue.

According to Fortune, the Global 500 companies generated $41.7 trillion in revenue in 2024, employed more than 70 million people worldwide, and collectively accounted for more than one-third of global GDP.

Significance of the Deal

The agreement highlights the growing global demand for enterprise AI solutions and reinforces India’s role as a major technology and digital transformation partner.

Large-scale AI contracts such as this are expected to play an important role in shaping the next phase of innovation across industries, including workplace management, enterprise networking and cloud-based operations.
